Sand traps are filtration devices inside which a specially shaped labyrinth generates calm zones that allow particles to precipitate to the bottom of the grate by gravity, without being dragged by the air flow after discharging their kinetic energy on impact against the metal surface. In this way, the grates are particularly effective in separating air from sand and dust and are used in atmospheric air extraction systems in the industrial and oil and gas sectors.

Available in standard dimensions and customised to customer requirements.

Structure and materials of sand resistant grilles

Sand trap grilles consist of:

• galvanised sheet steel casing, AISI 304 / 316L stainless steel or anodised/natural aluminium;
• galvanised sheet steel, AISI 304 / 316L stainless steel or anodised/natural aluminium fins;
• standard pitch between fins 150 mm.
